Tal Michael, who stood down from his Chief Executive job at the Police Authority to run for the Labour nomination, was elected with 548 votes to 276 for Margaret Hanson, wife of Shadow Policing Minister David Hanson MP. Terry Renshaw had put his name forward but was not shortlisted, and said he would not be renewing his party membership.
According to Michael Crick Elfyn Lloyd from Plaid Cymru decided against running.
